HATN seeks to bring practical help to communities in developing countries.

We have all seen the pictures of poverty on TV. Some change the channel and make the images go away. Others will listen and watch, feel like they can do nothing to help and… change the channel. 

In many countries around the world, changing the channel is not an option. The pictures don't go away. The poverty isn't a scripted, televised, appeal. It's real life, every day.

Around the world:

• 1/6 of the population lives on less than a dollar a day
• 1.1 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water
• 1/3 of the world does not have electricity
• In Africa alone, 1 in 6 children die before the age of 5, largely due to Malaria and AIDS

Rather than change the channel, Hands Across The Nations has chosen to change lives, one community at a time. 

With current projects in West Africa and South America, HATN provides volunteer and financial support, and works in partnership with local leaders in an effort to improve the communities’ quality of life, to empower the local people, and to enable them to become self-sufficient.
